Why is he still hosting corny tv gossip shows, goofy contest shows, and appearing gimmicks like dancing with the stars? What’s next, Mario Lopez On Ice?
You see my friends, this just proves that looking perfect in person doesn’t necessarily translate to momentum for a mediocre acting career. Mario reminds me of Antonio Sabato Jr., from the 90′s, in the sense that, everyone thought he (Sabato) was so perfect, and so gorgeous, with an incredible body, but no matter how many times they tried to make him a star all attempts would fall flat. That’s because these guys have the looks, but they do not have the It-Factor. That special thing that makes a hot guy show leading man potential, and eventually become an icon. Men who have the It-Factor aren’t always tall and super amazing looking. Sometimes their personality, ability to engage and command the screen with raw talent and emotion is all that is needed. Classic example, the actor Giovanni Ribisi. A total babe, and not because of his looks (although I still think he is cute). He (Ribisi) has the It-Factor down 100%. If your not convinced that Mario Lopez isn’t a good actor, nor does he have the It-Factor, check out his “brilliant” performance in the tv movie Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story. (remember how weird it was to watch the rape scene?). Bad movie. Bad visual of dreamboat A.C. Slater being violated. Just wrong in so many ways.
Mario Lopez, like Sabato Jr, will never be an official A-lister like most of the other men featured on this site, but based on Mario’s good looks, I’m going to keep my fingers crossed. They guy is just so darn sweet looking. What’s even crazier is he sort of gives off a gay vibe, but based on his many flings and indiscretions with women, I’d say he’s most likely straight.
